The Marauder is ancient history. I really, really wanted it, for sure. But it just wasn't for me. Too tall - with too high a center of gravity. We sold it to our neighbor for $500 because it needs a new crank shaft. He's getting it fixed up and seems really happy with it.
Instead, we bought me a 2003 Honda Shadow Spirit 750. Before you ask, no. I don't have any pictures of it yet. *sigh* But this one's really similar. Mine has aftermarket Cobra pipes, though, so the exhaust looks a bit different. Still, this will let you see the paint job. I'll have pix soon, I hope!
I really love this bike. However, Saturday night, I dropped it. :( I thought it was in first gear, and I went to turn left from a stop sign and it stalled and went over on me. I was able to get out of the way without getting caught under it, but it was really embarrassing.
Then yesterday I rode it to work, and to lunch and back to work and to the gym. I was on it all day, and it was pretty chilly. I did a hard workout and then headed for home. I got halfway there on the interstate when I ran out of gas.......and I wasn't familiar enough with the bike to know where the reserve was, so I pulled over to look for it, and in the meantime the bike ran dry. Which would have been fine. Except that when I put it on reserve and tried to restart it, I discovered that the BATTERY WAS DEAD. It wouldn't turn over.
I had to call Lynn. He was on HIS bike all day, too, so he came out and joined me. He backed my bike up manually about a quarter of a mile, and then pushed it forward another quarter mile so it wasn't on the side of a major highway. Then he had to back HIS bike up the same distance. (At least he could ride it for the forward portion.)
His friend from work brought jumper cables and we got it started again, and got to the nearest gas station and home without any further drama. :( He's got to put a new battery in it before I'll ride it again, though! Lol!
